Questionnaire -

1. Why you would like to be an ISHM Board Member

Response: To further position ISHM as the preeminent safety organization today and champion safety measures as the nexus responsible to ensure the Nation is prepared to prevent, protect against, respond to, and recover from all hazards, natural or manmade activities.

2. What skills and experience that you will bring to the board to enhance the organization and the CSHM / ASHM certifications.

Response: I offer over 32 years experience in safety and environmental management, homeland security and homeland defense integrating enterprise-wide know-how as a career practitioner, educator - Adjunct Professor and member of numerous senior level government coordinating councils addressing national infrastructure protection measures. Additionally, building coalitions internally, and with others has been a trademark of my success. Collaborating across boundaries to build strategic relationships and achieve common goals requires, at times, a very close working relationship with others through teamwork. I was recently selected to the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) Certificate Accreditation Program (CAP) Accreditation Committee after serving for nine years on the ANSI-ASQ National Accreditation Board (ANAB), which is the U.S. accreditation body for management systems and accredits certification bodies for:
  • ISO 9001 quality management systems (QMS)
  • ISO 14001 environmental management systems (EMS)
  • ISO 22000 food safety management systems (FSMS)
  • ISO 28000 supply chain security management systems (SCSMS)
  • ISO/IEC 20000-1 information technology service management systems (ITSMS)
  • ISO/IEC 27001 information security management systems (ISMS)
  • ANSI/AIHA Z10, CSA Z1000, and BS OHSAS 18001 occupational health and safety management systems (OHSMS)
My overall experience demonstrates a strategic and top-level focus on broad requirements, fusion of information, collaborative partnerships, and vertical and horizontal integration that could support ISHM's growth and professional standing amongst diverse organizations across Federal, State, and local jurisdictions.
