Phillip Mueller
Managing Director
Phil has filled this position for about four years. He served as Executive Director for NSMS and Managing Director of ISHM until the Institute became a separate organization in 2003. He is under contract with ISHM, through his company, Phillip Mueller & Associates, LLC. His contract runs from April to April and is reviewed annually. Phil is a retired Federal employee, serving first as an intern with the Department of Labor, Office of Occupational Safety-forerunner to the Occupational Safety and Health Administration.

In 1967, after his one year internship, he took a course at the USDA Grad School, entitled Systems Safety Management taught by Harold Gordon and Bill Pope. Phil then was selected as assistant to the Department of Interior Safety Director, Bill Pope. After approximately six years, he applied and was chosen as the USDA’s first Safety Director. Phil retired from the USDA in 1992.

Annette Humphreys
Assistant Managing Director
Annette has served as Assistant Managing Director for about four years. She worked with both NSMS and ISHM and transferred to ISHM only when the two organizations split. Annette does most of the computer work, which includes updating the database, invoicing, preparing membership cards, certificates and report preparation.
Annette is a graduate of the University of Missouri with a Bachelor of Journalism with an emphasis on Advertising. Currently, Annette is the President of her Parent Teacher Association, and enjoys participating in athletic events with her two children ages 8 and 13.
