Thomas J. Slavin

Tom was elected to the Board in 2003 as the Board expanded from seven to nine members. His term was set to expire in two years. In 2005 he ran for reelection and won a six year term. Tom also serves as a Board member for the National Safety Management Society and was heavily involved in developing the Institute for Safety and Health Management and the certified programs. He has a BS degree in Zoology from the University of Illinois, Urbana, and an MBA from the University of Chicago and an MS in Occupational and Environmental Health from Wayne State University.
Tom is a Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH), Certified Professional Environmental Auditor (CPEA) as well as a Certified Safety and Health Manager (CSHM).
He has been Corporate Manager of Occupational Health and Safety for International Truck and Engine Corporation since 1984. He has recruited several other corporate members to the Certified Safety and Health Manger (CSHM).

Andrew Sorine

Andy was elected to the Board in 2003 as the Board expanded from seven to nine members. His term expires 9/30/2007. He also serves as a Board member of the National Safety Management Society.
Andy has been instrumental in developing the Certified Safety and Health Manager exam program. He has been working with a committee of CSHM members to develop the exam since 1998. The exams are prepared at the University of West Virginia under the leadership of Andy.
He has a BS in Physical Education/Safety Education for Fairmont State College, an MS in Industrial Safety from West Virginia University and a doctorate from West Virginia in Curriculum and Instruction (Safety Management). Currently, Andy is President and Chief Operations Officer for AJS and Associates, a Safety, Health and Environmental Consultant firm, as well as an Instructor, Assistant and Associate Professor, West Virginia University, Department of Industrial Management and Systems Engineering.
