Bit and Pieces from the Managing Director (Phil's Corner)

This year we initiated a new invoicing system using QuickBooks Billing Solutions. Through this system most invoices are emailed to members. Exceptions can be allowed if a member specifically requests a mailed invoice or if we don’t have an email address. More than one-half of our members pay by credit card. Those receiving email invoices may click on a link and pay by credit card much more easily than in the past. Also, members receive a receipt immediately. Those paying by credit card will also be able to access a history of their payments. This will only be available in the second year.

We have become aware of two problems with this system:
  1. Some members were unable to open their invoices. This generally results from security settings and we can provide instructions to correct this situation.
  2. We had two cases where members paid twice for the same invoice and we sent them a refund check. This may be caused by refreshing the screen after entering credit card information. There is a warning that instructs you not to do this.

There have been questions and comments made about the Continuation of Certification (COC). One member asked about receiving credit in category 2(membership) for being a member of ISHM. The answer is NO.

We have received several suggestions from members asking about being able to complete the COC worksheet online. Currently, the worksheet must be downloaded to complete the form. We will investigate this and determine if we can make changes to allow online completion. COC worksheets must not be turned in prior to completion of the cycle. We have received some worksheets already.

We continue to have some difficulty with our email system. Many emails are returned with notations such as “recipient will not receive suspected spam”. Please make an effort to add ishm "at" izones.net to your address book.
