ISHM Participates in ASSE Conference

Tom Slavin (left), a member of the Board of Directors, managed the ISHM display booth at the ASSE Conference June 12-15, 2005 in New Orleans, LA. Randy McBurnett (right) was on hand with welcome assistance for Tom. Dennis Kundert also volunteered by setting up the booth on Sunday prior to the conference.

The volunteer efforts of Dennis and Randy were greatly appreciated. Tom provided a report which included suggestions for gaining more visitor traffic to our booth. We will participate in next year’s ASSE Professional Development Conference in Seattle, WA and welcome any volunteers willing to spend some time at the conference.

Slippery Rock University of PA receives ISHM Accreditation

Joe Cali, CSHM, applied for accreditation on behalf of Slippery Rock University of PA. ISHM-approved college programs provide a significant benefit to their alumni. Graduates may apply for the Associate Safety and Health Manager (ASHM) immediately after graduating. They become eligible to take the CSHM with only two years of experience rather than the normal five years. More information...

William Walkowiak, a graduate of Grand Valley State University, applied for the ASHM in July 2005. Because Grand Valley State University is an accredited school, he was eligible to take the CSHM exam after only two years of work experience. William took and successfully completed the exam in August, 2005. Congratulations William!
